The Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) is a university which has played a major role in the political development of Spain since its founding. 87,000 students are enrolled into 80 majors, 230 individual degrees and more than 200 doctorate programs, with an academic staff of 7,000. In more than 30 libraries, it holds over 2 million works in print, with the extensive collection of historical documents and film archive.
